Three steps, no phone tag.

  1. Step 1: Book it online

    Choose the service, your city and the hours, at least 24 hours ahead, and confirm on the site — no phone call, no callback, no waiting for a quote. Add anything specific as you go: allergies, bedtime routines, a child who takes a while to warm up.

  2. Step 2: We match a caregiver

    A coordinator assigns someone to your booking and sends you their verified credentials before the shift starts.

  3. Step 3: Care happens at your door

    Your caregiver arrives at your home. The hold on your card is charged only once the shift is finished.

What we mean by that

By that we mean three things together: every hourly caregiver is a Puffin employee; one published price list, the same for every family — no quotes, no membership, and no per-child fee for in-home childcare; and care from a newborn’s first weeks, through childhood, to care for ageing parents — with in-home respite for autistic children arranged directly, and pediatric therapy in development.

When is my card actually charged?

After the care — not when you book.

Booking places a hold for the total our servers calculate from your details. It is captured once the shift is finished, and if anything would change the amount, we tell you before charging it.

What if my plans change?

Cancel 24 hours or more before and you pay nothing.

The hold is released in full. Inside 24 hours a late-cancellation fee of up to the booked total may apply, and a person reviews it — it is never automatic. If we cannot staff your booking, you owe nothing.

Who will actually come to my home?

A Puffin employee who has already been cleared.

Every caregiver has a clear police vulnerable sector check, plus reference and certification checks, before their first shift. Your coordinator sends you their verified credentials before the shift starts.

What if someone gets hurt, or something breaks?

That is our insurance, not your household’s.

Caregivers are Puffin employees, not contractors you take on. Puffin carries WorkSafeBC coverage and commercial general liability insurance, and if a caregiver is hurt at work we handle it as their employer.

Is the price on the site the price I pay?

Yes — the page and your card use the same pricing.

Every rate is published, with a 3-hour minimum. Childcare includes every child in the home, with no per-child fee. Overtime is 1.5× the rate, and only past 8 hours with one caregiver.

Does booking online really work?

Yes — from choosing a time to your confirmation, no phone call needed.

Book at least 24 hours ahead and a confirmation email with your booking reference arrives straight away. On your first in-home booking we also review a photo ID — it protects our caregivers.
