How Fast Can a Nanny Placement Actually Happen in BC?

Profile reviewed in one business day, matched candidates in 7–10. Here is what happens on each of those days, the four things that reliably make a search longer, and the honest answer about smaller communities.

They are different numbers because they are different things. One is scheduling someone we already employ. The other is finding, screening and interviewing a person who does not yet know your family exists.

What happens on those days

Day 0 — your profile and the deposit. You submit the family profile and pay the $200 deposit by card. Nothing starts before that, and we would rather say so than imply a search is running while an inquiry sits unpaid.

Day 1 — review. Your profile is read by a person within one business day, and sourcing begins across the BC candidate registry. This is also where we tell you if something in your requirements is going to make the search longer. Better now than on day 25.

Days 1–10 — sourcing and screening. Candidates are identified, then put through CRRP vulnerable-sector criminal record screening, reference verification and interviews. This is the bulk of the time, and it is the part that cannot be usefully rushed — a check that comes back fast because nobody ran it is worse than no check.

Days 7–10 — presentation. Two to three matched candidates, with introductions coordinated. Long-term placements add a skills assessment and personality matching, which is part of what the higher fee buys.

Then, your pace. Meeting candidates, deciding, agreeing a salary and a start date are yours to set. Some families decide in two days and some take three weeks, and neither is a problem. The balance is invoiced when you choose, not before.

The outer bound is 30 days. If we have not presented suitable candidates within 30 days of your paid inquiry, your $200 comes back in full and no balance is payable.

What makes a search slower

Four things, reliably:

A smaller local pool. Metro Vancouver and the western Fraser Valley have the most candidates. East of Abbotsford — Agassiz, Harrison, Hope — the pool is genuinely smaller, and a search there can run past 7–10 business days. We will say so at the start rather than at the end. Each city page carries the local picture for the municipality it covers.

A narrow requirement. A specific second language, a particular schedule, experience with a specific need. These are ordinary search criteria, not complications — but each one shrinks the pool, and two together shrink it a lot. Name them on day 0 and we will tell you honestly what they mean for the timeline.

A driving requirement that arrives late. Acreage, a rural address, a school run across town. If a candidate needs a vehicle, that is a criterion from the start; discovering it in week two means re-running part of the search.

What makes it faster

Mostly, front-loading the truth.

Name your neighbourhood, not just your city. Commute is the variable that decides whether a placement lasts. A candidate forty minutes across town will not sustain a school-year schedule, and a search that knows your actual address from day one will not waste a week presenting them.

Give the real schedule, including the awkward parts. The 7:15 start, the Thursday that runs late, the two weeks in August. A candidate who says yes to the real schedule is a placement. One who says yes to a tidied-up version is a re-match.

Separate must-have from nice-to-have. Every must-have is a filter. Four of them can empty a regional pool entirely. Tell us which ones are genuinely non-negotiable and we can search properly rather than returning nobody.
