Nanny placement in Mission

Mission placements are shaped by the commute. A large share of working parents here cross the river or take the West Coast Express, which tends to mean early starts and a nanny who arrives before the household leaves rather than after. Hatzic and Silverdale households are further out again and usually need a candidate with a vehicle. Both are ordinary search criteria — tell us at the profile stage and they are built into the shortlist.

  1. Step 1

    Tell us about your household

Ages, schedule, languages spoken at home, driving, and anything non-negotiable. Your family profile is reviewed within one business day.

  2. Step 2

    We search and vet

Candidate search, provincial CRRP vulnerable-sector criminal record checks, and reference verification — done before anyone reaches you, not after you have interviewed them.

  3. Step 3

    You meet 2–3 matched candidates

Matched candidates typically arrive within 7–10 business days. You interview; we do not place anyone your family has not chosen.

  4. Step 4

    One fee, once

$500 for a placement under three months, $1,000 for three months or longer, with $200 due to start and the balance when we place your nanny. There is no ongoing commission and no hourly markup after placement.

One difference worth being clear about: a placed nanny becomes your family’s employee, not Puffin’s. Puffin runs the search, the CRRP checks and the reference verification, and then steps out of the relationship. That is the opposite of our hourly childcare, where the caregiver stays a Puffin employee and Puffin carries the insurance and payroll — two different products, two different answers to "who is the employer".

What care costs in Mission

There is no Mission-specific rate; the card is the same everywhere. Hourly childcare starts at $32/hr for children 12 months and over, $38/hr where a child under 12 months is present, $36/hr for after-school pickup and care, and $36/hr overnight between 10:00 PM and 6:00 AM, all with a three-hour minimum. Nanny Placement is a one-time fee of $500 under three months or $1,000 for three months or longer. Hatzic and Silverdale are billed the same as the downtown core, and crossing the river costs nothing extra. The full rate card is in the 2026 cost guide.

Every caregiver is employed, insured, and CRRP-cleared

Puffin caregivers are employees, not contractors. We carry the insurance and handle payroll and remittances, so a Mission family is never the employer of record for someone working in their home. Every caregiver clears a provincial CRRP vulnerable-sector criminal record check, reference verification, and ongoing certification checks before being matched.

Frequently asked questions

Yes. Puffin Services places nannies in Mission and provides hourly childcare, postpartum support, event nannies, and senior care across the municipality. Mission is one of the 16 Lower Mainland and Fraser Valley municipalities we serve.

Hourly childcare in Mission starts at $32/hr for children 12 months and older, with infant care at $38/hr and after-school care at $36/hr, subject to a three-hour minimum. Nanny Placement is a separate one-time fee of $500 or $1,000 depending on length. Rates are identical in every municipality Puffin Services covers.

Hourly bookings in Mission need at least 24 hours notice, giving Puffin Services time to match a caregiver and confirm the schedule. Nanny Placement runs on a longer timeline because of the candidate search, background checks, and interviews involved. Same-day booking is not available yet.

All of Mission is covered, including Hatzic, Silverdale, and Cedar Valley as well as the downtown core. Rates are consistent across the district and there is no travel charge for outlying addresses.

Yes. Puffin Services runs full placement searches for Mission households, including Hatzic and Silverdale, with CRRP vulnerable-sector checks and reference verification completed before candidates reach you. Commuting parents often need an early start and a candidate who drives; both are ordinary search criteria if you note them on your family profile. One-time fee from $500.

Yes. Every Puffin caregiver working in Mission completes a provincial CRRP vulnerable-sector criminal record check and reference verification before any placement, and Puffin pays for it rather than passing the cost to the caregiver or the family. Hourly caregivers are Puffin employees, so Puffin carries the insurance and is the employer of record. A nanny placed through Puffin is the deliberate exception — once placed, they become your family’s employee.

Your family profile is reviewed within one business day and 2–3 matched candidates are typically presented within 7–10 business days. That is placement turnaround, and it is a different number from hourly booking notice, which is 24 hours. Commuting households here often need an early start, and Hatzic and Silverdale addresses usually need a candidate with a vehicle. Both are ordinary criteria if you note them on your profile at the outset.
