Nanny Placement & In-Home Childcare in Delta, BC

Puffin Services places nannies and provides in-home family care across all three Delta communities — Ladner, Tsawwassen, and North Delta. Delta is unusual among Lower Mainland municipalities in being three geographically separate areas under one city, and families in each of them book the same caregivers on the same terms.

Where we work in Delta

Coverage is city-wide and explicitly includes all three communities: Ladner, Tsawwassen, and North Delta. Rates do not change between them and there is no travel surcharge for the longer drive to Tsawwassen.

Services available in Delta

Delta families can book the full Puffin Services range. Nanny Placement is a one-time fee — $500 for placements under three months and $1,000 for three months or longer — and includes candidate search, CRRP background checks, reference verification, and two to three matched candidates presented to your family. Hourly Childcare covers ages 0 to 12: standard care from $32/hr for children 12 months and older, infant care at $38/hr, after-school pickup and care at $36/hr, and overnight care, all with a three-hour minimum. Postpartum Support is $38/hr, or $42/hr for overnight care between 10:00 PM and 6:00 AM. Senior and adult support includes Health Care Assistant personal care and respite at $42/hr and one-to-one companion care at $38/hr. Event Nannies are $40/hr, rising to $60/hr beyond eight hours in a day. Pediatric therapy services are in development and open for interest registration.

Nanny placement in Delta

Delta is three communities with three different commutes, and placement here works better when that is named up front. Ladner and Tsawwassen sit south of the river with a smaller local candidate pool and a tunnel between them and most of Metro Vancouver; North Delta draws on the same pool as Surrey and is materially easier to staff. None of that changes the fee or the process, but it does change realistic timelines, and we would rather say so at the start than let a Tsawwassen family assume the same week-count as a North Delta one.

  1. Step 1

    Tell us about your household

Ages, schedule, languages spoken at home, driving, and anything non-negotiable. Your family profile is reviewed within one business day.

  2. Step 2

    We search and vet

Candidate search, provincial CRRP vulnerable-sector criminal record checks, and reference verification — done before anyone reaches you, not after you have interviewed them.

  3. Step 3

    You meet 2–3 matched candidates

Matched candidates typically arrive within 7–10 business days. You interview; we do not place anyone your family has not chosen.

  4. Step 4

    One fee, once

$500 for a placement under three months, $1,000 for three months or longer, with $200 due to start and the balance when we place your nanny. There is no ongoing commission and no hourly markup after placement.

One difference worth being clear about: a placed nanny becomes your family’s employee, not Puffin’s. Puffin runs the search, the CRRP checks and the reference verification, and then steps out of the relationship. That is the opposite of our hourly childcare, where the caregiver stays a Puffin employee and Puffin carries the insurance and payroll — two different products, two different answers to "who is the employer".

What care costs in Delta

Puffin Services charges the same rates in Delta as in every other municipality it serves. Hourly childcare starts at $32/hr for children 12 months and over, $38/hr where a child under 12 months is present, $36/hr for after-school pickup and care, and $36/hr overnight between 10:00 PM and 6:00 AM, all with a three-hour minimum. Nanny Placement is a one-time fee of $500 under three months or $1,000 for three months or longer. There is no zone pricing, no travel surcharge and no downtown premium — a family here pays what a family in Hope or Vancouver pays. Ladner, Tsawwassen and North Delta are billed identically, tunnel or no tunnel. The full rate card, including what does and does not change the price, is in the 2026 cost guide.

Every caregiver is employed, insured, and CRRP-cleared

Every Puffin caregiver is an employee, not a contractor. We carry the insurance, we handle payroll and remittances, and a Delta family is never the employer of record for someone working in their home. Each caregiver completes a provincial CRRP vulnerable-sector criminal record check, reference verification, and ongoing certification checks before being matched.

Common Questions

Frequently asked questions

Yes. Puffin Services places nannies throughout Delta and provides hourly childcare, postpartum support, event nannies, and senior care across the city. Delta is one of the 16 Lower Mainland and Fraser Valley municipalities we serve.

Nanny Placement is a one-time fee of $500 for placements under three months or $1,000 for three months or longer, with $200 due to start and the balance when we place your nanny. Hourly childcare in Delta starts at $32/hr for children 12 months and older, with infant care at $38/hr and after-school care at $36/hr, subject to a three-hour minimum. Rates are the same in every municipality Puffin Services covers.

Hourly bookings need a minimum of 24 hours notice, which is the window Puffin Services uses to match a caregiver to your family and confirm the schedule. A Nanny Placement search runs over a longer period, since candidates are sourced, background checked, and interviewed before you meet them. Same-day booking is not offered at this stage.

Yes — all three Delta communities are covered in full. Ladner, Tsawwassen, and North Delta are served by the same caregiver team at identical rates, with no travel surcharge between them.

All three, on identical terms — same one-time fee from $500, same CRRP vulnerable-sector checks, no travel surcharge and no minimum-distance rule. Worth knowing that the local candidate pool south of the river is smaller than in North Delta, which draws on the same pool as Surrey, so a Ladner or Tsawwassen search can take longer than the usual 7–10 business days. We will tell you that at the start rather than at the end.

Yes. Every caregiver working in Ladner, Tsawwassen or North Delta clears a provincial CRRP vulnerable-sector check and reference verification before any placement, paid for by Puffin. Hourly caregivers are employed and insured by Puffin, so the household is not the employer of record — with the deliberate exception of Nanny Placement, where the nanny becomes your family’s employee once placed.

Profiles are reviewed within one business day and matched candidates usually follow within 7–10 business days — placement turnaround, distinct from the 24 hours’ notice hourly bookings need. Honestly, it varies within Delta: North Delta draws on the same candidate pool as Surrey and tends to move faster, while Ladner and Tsawwassen sit south of the tunnel with a smaller local pool and can take longer. We will say so at the start rather than at the end.
