Delta is unusual among Lower Mainland municipalities in being three geographically separate areas under one city, and families in each of them book the same caregivers on the same terms.

Coverage is city-wide and explicitly includes all three communities: Ladner, Tsawwassen, and North Delta. Rates do not change between them and there is no travel surcharge for the longer drive to Tsawwassen.

Delta is three separate communities under one city, and Puffin treats Ladner, Tsawwassen and North Delta as one service area with one set of terms. An evening sitter, a regular weekday nanny or an after-school pickup is booked the same way in each; Delta families tend to call the first one babysitting and the rest a nanny, but the booking does not change with the word. New parents in any of the three can have postpartum support through the first weeks, overnights included. HCA personal care, companion time and respite serve older family members, and event nannies cover celebrations on either side of the river. Nanny placement is coming soon and will search the whole province — useful south of the river, where the local pool is smaller. Pediatric support is in development. The drive to Tsawwassen is not billed; the rates are below.

A babysitter in Ladner, Tsawwassen or North Delta is booked exactly as a nanny is — the same caregiver pool, the same three-hour minimum, the same $32/hr for children 12 months and over, and no surcharge for the longer drive down to Tsawwassen. Delta families tend to search “babysitter” for evenings and “nanny” for anything regular, but nothing about the booking changes with the word.

Nanny placement will be province-wide: the search will draw on a candidate registry across British Columbia, at the same flat fee wherever you live. Delta is also one of the 16 municipalities where our own caregivers come to the home for hourly care.
Delta is three communities with three different commutes, and placement here works better when that is named up front. Ladner and Tsawwassen are smaller communities south of the river, with a tunnel between them and most of Metro Vancouver, so fewer candidates live close by; North Delta borders Surrey, and far more live within easy reach. None of that changes the fee or the process, but it does change realistic timelines, and we would rather say so at the start than let a Tsawwassen family assume the same week-count as a North Delta one.

$500 for a placement under three months, $1,000 for three months or longer, once placement opens. There will be no ongoing commission and no hourly markup after placement.
One difference worth being clear about: a placed nanny becomes your family’s employee, not Puffin’s. Puffin runs the search, the vulnerable sector checks and the reference verification, and then steps out of the relationship. That is the opposite of our hourly childcare, where the caregiver stays a Puffin employee and Puffin carries the insurance and payroll — two different products, two different answers to "who is the employer".

Puffin Services charges the same rates in Delta as in every other municipality it serves. Hourly childcare starts at $32/hr for children 12 months and over, $38/hr where a child under 12 months is present, $36/hr for after-school pickup and care, and $36/hr overnight between 10:00 PM and 6:00 AM, all with a three-hour minimum. Nanny Placement, coming soon, will be a one-time fee of $500 under three months or $1,000 for three months or longer. There is no zone pricing, no travel surcharge and no downtown premium — a family here pays what a family in Hope or Vancouver pays.
