Nanny Placement & In-Home Childcare in Surrey, BC
Puffin Services places nannies and provides in-home family care across Surrey, from Guildford and Fleetwood through Newton, Cloverdale, and South Surrey. Surrey is where our office is registered, and it is the municipality our caregiver team knows best — whether that means an after-school pickup near a Newton elementary school, overnight newborn support in Cloverdale, or a long-term nanny placement for a family in South Surrey.

Surrey is Puffin’s registered city and the municipality our caregiver team knows best, which matters for placement because the search starts from a pool that already lives here rather than one that has to be persuaded to commute. The practical variable is Surrey’s size: a placement in South Surrey and one in Guildford are a long way apart, and a candidate who is right on paper but forty minutes from your door will not last a school year. Tell us the neighbourhood at the profile stage and it becomes a search criterion rather than a discovery in month three.
- Step 1
Tell us about your household
Ages, schedule, languages spoken at home, driving, and anything non-negotiable. Your family profile is reviewed within one business day.
- Step 2
We search and vet
Candidate search, provincial CRRP vulnerable-sector criminal record checks, and reference verification — done before anyone reaches you, not after you have interviewed them.
- Step 3
You meet 2–3 matched candidates
Matched candidates typically arrive within 7–10 business days. You interview; we do not place anyone your family has not chosen.
- Step 4
One fee, once
$500 for a placement under three months, $1,000 for three months or longer, with $200 due to start and the balance when we place your nanny. There is no ongoing commission and no hourly markup after placement.
One difference worth being clear about: a placed nanny becomes your family’s employee, not Puffin’s. Puffin runs the search, the CRRP checks and the reference verification, and then steps out of the relationship. That is the opposite of our hourly childcare, where the caregiver stays a Puffin employee and Puffin carries the insurance and payroll — two different products, two different answers to "who is the employer".

Puffin Services charges the same rates in Surrey as in every other municipality it serves. Hourly childcare starts at $32/hr for children 12 months and over, $38/hr where a child under 12 months is present, $36/hr for after-school pickup and care, and $36/hr overnight between 10:00 PM and 6:00 AM, all with a three-hour minimum. Nanny Placement is a one-time fee of $500 under three months or $1,000 for three months or longer. There is no zone pricing, no travel surcharge and no downtown premium — a family here pays what a family in Hope or Vancouver pays. That matters more in Surrey than most places, because the city is large enough that a zone-priced provider would charge differently in South Surrey than in Whalley. The full rate card, including what does and does not change the price, is in the 2026 cost guide.

Every Puffin caregiver is an employee, not a contractor. That is a deliberate structural choice: it means we carry the insurance, we handle payroll and remittances, and you are never the employer of record for someone working in your home. Each caregiver completes a provincial CRRP vulnerable-sector criminal record check, reference verification, and ongoing certification checks before being matched with a family.

Yes. Puffin Services places nannies throughout Surrey and provides hourly childcare, postpartum support, event nannies, and senior care across the city. Surrey is our registered business city and one of the 16 Lower Mainland and Fraser Valley municipalities we serve.
Nanny Placement is a one-time fee of $500 for placements under three months or $1,000 for three months or longer, with $200 due to start and the balance when we place your nanny. Hourly childcare in Surrey starts at $32/hr for children 12 months and older, with infant care at $38/hr and after-school care at $36/hr, subject to a three-hour minimum. Rates are the same in every municipality Puffin Services covers.
Puffin Services asks for at least 24 hours notice on hourly bookings so a caregiver can be properly matched and scheduled. Nanny Placement runs on a longer timeline because it involves a candidate search, background checks, and interviews. Same-day booking is not available yet.
All of Surrey. Coverage includes Whalley and Surrey City Centre, Guildford, Fleetwood, Newton, Cloverdale, and South Surrey, at identical rates with no travel surcharge between neighbourhoods.
Yes. Puffin Services is registered in Surrey and places nannies across the whole city — Whalley and City Centre, Guildford, Fleetwood, Newton, Cloverdale and South Surrey. Placement is a one-time fee: $500 for placements under three months, $1,000 for three months or longer, with $200 due to start and the balance on placement. That covers candidate search, CRRP vulnerable-sector checks, reference verification, and 2–3 matched candidates presented within 7–10 business days.
Yes — every Puffin caregiver working in Surrey completes a provincial CRRP vulnerable-sector criminal record check and reference verification before any placement, and Puffin pays for it rather than passing the cost to the caregiver or the family. Hourly caregivers are Puffin employees, so Puffin carries the insurance and is the employer of record and you are never the employer of someone working in your home. A placed nanny is the exception: once placed, they become your family’s employee.
Your family profile is reviewed within one business day and matched candidates are typically presented within 7–10 business days. That is placement turnaround and it is a different number from hourly booking notice, which is 24 hours. Surrey has the largest local candidate pool of any municipality Puffin covers, so searches here tend to sit at the faster end of that range — though naming your neighbourhood up front matters, because a candidate forty minutes across the city will not sustain a school-year schedule.
